I’m working on another project.
Fab lab Adelaide, Hakerspace Adelaide, SA Makers and other maker community groups are joining forces to kick-start the first real Adelaide Makerspace. Would EIDA and member businesses like to include your name on our list of supporters. Though we would appreciate any support it will not cost anything and you will get good community exposure in return.
A makerspace is just a space e.g. building or warehouse where makers can get 247 open access to specialized machinery, technology, places to store their materials and projects. More importantly opportunities to socialize, collaborate and share their skills to inspire others to make new and interesting things. It’s not just about laser cutters and 3D printers there are many electronics enthusiasts involved and people who work in the electronics/ITC sector.
Funding will be developed around a social enterprise model, with the social purpose being to harness the people in our community with the passion and enthusiasm to make things and use this to inspire others in the community regardless of age or background that they can make new and
interesting things themselves, maybe pursue further education, get into a trade or even start a new venture of their own.
There will be a combination of tiered membership, casual access, training courses and workshops. Along with fundraising, donations and grants. We currently have a Renew Adelaide application pending.
Also, see my personal reasons why I feel supporting this project is important. http://www.hardhack.com.au/makerspaces
